35 Cozy Dutch Oven Soup Recipes

That’s savory broth + tender veggies you’re gazing at. Smooshed into that pot of “soup”. And now I’ll give you a minute to catch your breath.

In general, I try not to make really obnoxiously lofty claims around here, like “best recipe that ever existed” or “the only recipe you’ll ever need”. But I’ll just give it to you straight: THESE RECIPES WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE.

Right now I’m having a hard time thinking of any other soup that I’ve made, like, ever, that even comes close to the overwhelming cozy insanity of these Dutch oven soups.

1. Loaded Potato Soup

This one is, just as it says, loaded with all the best things! We’re talking potatoes, bacon, cheese, AND green onions. It’s incredibly filling, but still has this light and totally luscious, creamy texture.

You’ll want to use starchy potatoes; they are the key because they break down and make the soup thick as it cooks. A little pro-tip: try some smoked cheese in there for a little extra flavor. So, so good.

2. Cabbage Soup

Okay, hear me out on this one. Cabbage soup is one of those recipes that might sound a little… meh… but I promise you, this one is ah-mazing!

Just one bowl is enough to fill you up, but you won’t have that weighed-down, sluggish feeling afterward.

The best part? You can basically throw whatever you have on hand into the pot and it just works. It’s the perfect recipe for using up whatever leftovers are hanging out in your fridge.

3. Lasagna Soup

Lasagna soup. It’s like lasagna… but in soup form! And in my opinion, I think it might be even better than the traditional dish.

Here’s why: the prep time is cut in half! No more careful layering or painstakingly stacking in a baking dish. You just toss it all in a Dutch oven and watch the magic happen. Weeknight win.

4. Roasted Red Pepper Soup

Just like tomato soup, this roasted red pepper soup is incredibly vibrant and packs a major punch in the flavor department. It’s a little smoky and not quite as acidic as tomato soup, but it’s just as warm and totally addictive with a grilled cheese on the side.

For an extra-special touch, garnish it with a sprig of rosemary or thyme and serve it up with a crusty baguette.

5. Italian Sausage Butternut Squash Soup

This soup is nutrient-rich and just brimming with fresh veggies, salty sausage, and a touch of sweetness. It is a must-make.

I like to roast the squash first to get that nice caramelized note happening in the soup. But that’s totally optional. It’ll be just as yummy either way.

6. Vegetable Beef Soup

There’s really nothing quite like a hearty bowl of soup on a cold day. And this vegetable beef soup is just the perfect way to warm up from the inside out.
