Are Malibu cocktails the best or are Malibu cocktails the best? Yes to both. I am 120% sure these are what my drink dreams are made of. Why? a) They are sweet. b) They are fruity and tropical. c) They are just plain fun.
And the best part? You can make them right at home, year-round. YUM.
1. Malibu Pina Colada
Is there anything more typically beachy or tropical? NEVERRRRRR. This pina colada recipe is seriously one of the best. You’ll use ice, Malibu rum, coconut cream, pineapple juice, pineapples, and cherries.
What you get is a creamy, icy treat that just smells like summer and tastes like a dream. It’s so wonderfully light and refreshing. Just perfect for sipping on a hot summer day. Ugh.
Ingredients: ice cubes, Malibu rum, coconut cream, pineapple juice, whole cherry, piece of pineapple
2. Sex on the Beach
This one is probably one of the most famous tropical cocktails out there. I mean, who hasn’t heard of it? And for being so popular and sought-after, it’s ridiculously simple to make.
You just need Malibu rum, orange juice, cranberry juice, peach schnapps, vanilla extract, and ice. It’s sweet, fruity, and so, so fantastically refreshing.
It doesn’t matter if you’re lounging by a pool or just binging Netflix in your living room, this drink just makes the day better.
Ingredients: Malibu rum or vodka, orange juice, cranberry juice, peach schnapps, vanilla extract, ice cubes
3. Malibu Bay Breeze
Okay, so most Malibu cocktails are all about being sweet and fruity. But this one? It’s got a little something extra: tartness. That’s the Malibu bay breeze.
The cranberry juice gives it this really distinct, almost sour note that just works so perfectly with the sweetness of the rum and the sweet tanginess of the pineapple juice.
And best of all, you can make it in 3 minutes with just three ingredients (plus your ice and garnishes). Yaaas.
Ingredients: Malibu rum, pineapple juice, cranberry juice, ice cubes
4. Coconut Rum Punch
Let me just tell you, if you’re whipping up this flavorful drink, just go for the pitcher recipe. Trust me. One glass is not going to be enough. This drink is sweet, rich, bubbly, and just beautiful.
You can even control how sweet or dry it is by playing with the amount of ginger ale you use. But whether you opt for the sweeter or tangier option, you’re going to love it.
Ingredients: grenadine or Maraschino cherry juice, orange juice, pineapple juice, Malibu, ginger ale, pineapple, Maraschino cherries
5. Malibu Sunset
This drink is GORGEOUS and only takes 2 minutes. It has this deep, bright red color at the bottom that fades to almost clear at the top.
You’ll make it with ice, pineapple-orange juice, Malibu coconut rum, grenadine, and whatever fruity garnishes you want to make it look pretty.
Even if the skies are gray, this fancy cocktail will have you California dreamin’ after just one sip. It’s a whole mood.
Ingredients: ice cubes, pineapple-orange juice, Malibu coconut rum, grenadine, Maraschino cherries, pineapple and orange slices
6. Bahama Mama
I’m not sure there’s a drink on this list more famous than Sex on the Beach. But if there were one, it would probably be the Bahama Mama.
We all know the real tropical paradise is the Bahamas, right? Well, this drink can take you there in one sip. Between the pineapple and orange juices and the dark and coconut rum, it’s pretty hard for anyone to say no to this one.
Ingredients: dark rum, coconut rum, orange juice, pineapple juice, grenadine, ice, pineapple slices
7. Malibu Mistress
Look at this funky green drink! It’s a combo of Malibu, pineapple juice, and melon liqueur (I always use Midori). The flavor is so unique. It kind of reminds you of cucumber melon, but it’s not exactly that.
Think slightly melon-sweet with a little clean earthiness added in. And with only 3 ingredients, it takes basically no time to make. Just combine, shake, and strain into a glass with ice.
I love topping mine with decadent whipped cream and pineapple chunks, but you do you.
Ingredients: coconut rum, melon liqueur, pineapple juice, whipped cream, cherry
8. Bikini Martini
This is such a fun, colorful drink. It’s a total head-turner, guaranteed. It’s also simple to make, taking 5 minutes, max. And yep, it’s just as sweet and tropical as you’d expect.
You just need pineapple juice, coconut rum, vodka, grenadine, and then pineapple and maraschino cherries for garnishes. It’s sweet, it’s strong… and it might make you want to find your bikini if you have more than one! (Party responsibly, friends!)
Ingredients: pineapple juice, coconut rum, vodka, grenadine, pineapple, Maraschino cherries
9. Electric Smurf
Here’s a little piece of barroom wisdom: any drink with “electric” in the name is pretty much always vibrantly blue. It’s like an unwritten rule. It means blue curacao is in the building. And this one is no exception!
It also has Malibu, pineapple juice, and lemon-lime soda. The result is a zesty, citrusy drink that’s sparkly, charming, and super tasty. You gotta top it off with maraschino cherries, pineapple slices, and a cute umbrella.
I mean, those things aren’t mandatory, but they just get people in that summer-fun mood.
Ingredients: Malibu coconut rum, Blue Curacao, pineapple juice, lemon-lime soda
10. Winter Sunshine Rum Cocktail
So, most Malibu cocktails are all about summer vibes. This icy mixed drink, though? It’s geared more for the winter months. (Here’s your Malibu drink, Alaska!)
Honestly, it still screams summer to me because of that overwhelmingly sweet coconut flavor and smell. But… it looks just like a glass of winter snow. That makes it totally ideal for the holidays.
Ingredients: ice cubes, canned coconut milk, pulp-free orange juice, Malibu rum, coconut flakes
11. Malibu Sunrise
If it’s even possible, this one might be even prettier than the sunset. It genuinely looks like a gorgeous sunrise in a glass. Here’s the scoop: the ingredients and garnishes are the exact same as the sunset.
The only thing that’s different is how you make them, like the order you add the ingredients. They taste precisely the same, however. And that taste is: sweet, fruity, and unbelievably delicious.
Ingredients: ice, Malibu rum, orange juice, pineapple juice, grenadine syrup, Maraschino cherries, pineapple, or orange slices
12. Rum Runner
This is one surprisingly robust little drink. It packs a lot of rum into one small package. We’re talking three rums in it: Captain Morgan spiced, Bacardi light, and Malibu.
Then you’ll add amaretto, pineapple juice, grenadine, and garnishes. If Captain Jack Sparrow drank cocktails instead of straight rum, this would 100% be his drink of choice.
Ingredients: Captain Morgan spiced rum, Bacardi light rum, Malibu coconut rum, Disarrano Amaretto, pineapple juice, grenadine, Maraschino cherries or orange slices
13. Malibu Paradise
This pink party punch is SO EASY. Only four ingredients. And it has a tart, slightly bittersweet flavor. You make it with Malibu rum, vodka, pineapple juice, and cranberry juice. It’s a relatively strong drink, just FYI.
If you’re looking for something sweeter, grab the sweetened cranberry juice. But if you prefer a tart, slightly bitter flavor, use the pure cranberry juice instead. Just be sure you’re prepared for that tanginess!
Ingredients: Malibu rum, pineapple juice, vodka, cranberry juice
14. Blue Hawaiian
This drink is gorgeous and so brilliantly blue. And guess what? It’s way thicker and creamier than it looks, all thanks to a generous dollop of creme de coconut. It’s definitely one of the sweeter, more decadent drinks on this list.
Because it’s so sugary and rich, it’s not quite as refreshing as some of the others, even with its bright taste. But if you’re looking for a stunningly beautiful dessert drink? You just can’t beat the blue Hawaiian.
Ingredients: Malibu rum, Blue Curacao, pineapple juice, creme de coconut, fresh lemon juice
15. Lava Flow
The taste here is just truly tropical. Think: a strawberry slushie with a dash of coconut rum. But I LOVE serving this one at Halloween because of its unique appearance. It has this thick, almost bloody look.
Some people might find that unpalatable, but I think it looks incredible. And honestly, once your friends get a single taste, they will not care one bit what it looks like anymore.
Ingredients: coconut rum, white rum, frozen strawberries, pineapple juice, cream of coconut, crushed ice, pineapple slices and strawberries
16. Malibu Summer Rose
Another gorgeous mixed drink that looks like a sunrise in a glass! This one has a lot more orange in it, though, both in color and flavor. It almost tastes like your favorite brand of tropical punch.
It’s got Malibu rum, peach schnapps, pineapple juice, orange juice, grenadine, and plenty of fruit for garnishes.
It might be hard for you to taste anything but the fruit, but I promise you, the alcohol is definitely there. So be sure you sip slowly, friends!
Ingredients: Malibu coconut rum, peach schnapps, pineapple juice, orange juice, grenadine, fresh pineapple slices, orange slices, or Maraschino cherries
17. Pineapple and Orange Coconut Rum Cocktail
I don’t know what it is about me, but I always assume all orange-flavored drinks are perfect for brunch. I guess it’s the orange juice connection? Either way, this drink is—you guessed it—perfect for brunch!
The Malibu rum and pineapple juice give it a slightly sweeter, more tropical taste than pure orange juice. If you’re a fan of OJ in the mornings, you’ll enjoy this simple cocktail.
Ingredients: orange juice, pineapple juice, coconut rum, ice cubes, slices of fruit
