Here’s another super fresh way to fix up a hominy and bean salad. The flavors are just popping with freshness, all thanks to some lime and diced veggies.

6. Pozole Verde de Pollo (Chicken Pozole)

This is another sensational Mexican soup you just have to try. Because it’s pozole, hominy is a must. Obviously. Beyond that, I am obsessed with all the spicy green veggies that make this dish just shine.

Do you love gratin? You have to try something new and make it with hominy. It’s super cheesy and creamy just like a regular gratin.

9. Colombian Yellow Hominy Soup (Sopa de Mute)

Colombians also know how to turn hominy into a totally tantalizing soup. This one is just a phenomenal balance of veggies and pork.

What makes this soup really pop is the hogao, which is a Colombian creole sauce with a tomato base. I’m pretty sure this would also taste amazing without the pork if you’re vegetarian or vegan.

10. Hominy Casserole

I know, I’ve talked about a few casseroles, but I just love them! So here is another one you’ve gotta try. Like any good casserole, this one is just loaded with cream and cheese.

But underneath all that dairy goodness is what makes it so unique. It has two types of hominy! There’s also some green chili hiding in there, adding the perfect amount of spice.

11. Mote Pillo (Ecuadorian Hominy with Eggs)

Mote Pillo is such a gratifying breakfast. It’ll give you a whole new perspective on scrambled eggs. You sauté the hominy with onions and simmer it in milk, which adds this deep layer of flavor.

If you’re looking for a dairy-free porridge, give this one a try. It’s a Jamaican version that is just overflowing with sweet hominy kernels in a thick, creamy, vanilla-infused base.

To get that perfect flavor and texture, you’ll want to use both canned coconut milk and canned coconut condensed milk. Oh, and don’t forget the cinnamon!

14. Pinto Posole

Like I said, posole is the first dish most people think of with hominy. So to kick things off is one of my all-time favorite vegan versions. It uses a ton of pantry staples plus a few fresh extras.

Besides the hominy, Guajillos chiles are a total must. These dried chiles are less fiery than some others and are a staple for Mexican sauces.

15. Blue Cheese Hominy Casserole

If you think casseroles can’t be adventurous, you have never tried this. That bite from the blue cheese, the smokiness from the paprika, and all that hominy are anything but boring.

This veggie dish is so, so tasty and easy. You’ll be making it all summer long. It takes almost nothing to pull together. Just sauté hominy with veggies like zucchini and tomatoes, and then let it all simmer.

19. Creamy Hominy with Green Chile and Kielbasa

This one-pan dish is such a comforting mix of creamy and savory ingredients. I have to warn you, though, this is a total cheat day dish. It is loaded with calories!

Just to give you an idea, the kielbasa cooks in bacon grease and there’s a handful of cheese. Then, you smother the whole thing in sour cream. Oof.

20. White Menudo Soup

Menudo is a traditional Mexican soup that stars tripe (aka cow’s stomach). I know it might not be for everyone, but if you’re feeling adventurous, I totally recommend giving it a try. It’s fresh and packed with white hominy.

If you’re a fan of pho, I really think you’ll love it.

21. Mexican Chicken Tortilla Soup with Hominy

This is, hands down, one of my favorite ways to make tortilla soup. The tomato broth is garlicky and spicy, and it infuses the hominy and shredded chicken with even more flavor.

You can pile on as many garnishes as you want, or just keep it simple. Both ways are equally awesome. The only thing I really recommend is adding a twist of lime. Oh, and toss those tortilla strips in right before you serve it.

22. Easy Hominy and Sausage Casserole

Now that I’m thinking about breakfast, you have got to get a taste of this. It brings together savory pork sausage, sharp cheddar cheese, and canned hominy into one totally lip-smacking casserole.

24. Llapingachos de Mote (Hominy Corn Patties)

These Ecuadorian-style llapingachos are seriously addictive. Classic llapingachos are a potato patty stuffed with gooey cheese, but this recipe uses hominy instead.

For the filling, you can pick between shredded pork or cheese. Or just go wild and add both!

25. Chipotle Sweet Potato Vegan Posole

Even the strictest carnivores can appreciate a bowl of this posole. It turns a meat soup into a veggie feast that is just rich with incredible flavors.

Between all the spices and the array of veggies, you’ll love everything happening in this bowl.

I’m sure you know hominy is a must, but so are the sweet potato, poblano peppers, and fire-roasted tomatoes. It’s deep and complex, but also fresh at the same time.

26. Pozole Rojo (Mexican Pork and Hominy Stew)

If you’re in the mood for a more traditional pozole, go with this recipe. Red chiles give the soup this complex flavor that pairs so, so well with the browned pork shoulder.

Talk about breakfast! This recipe puts a totally new spin on humble eggs and bacon. You’ll cook the hominy with bacon so it soaks up all that delicious grease, then top it off with a poached egg.

28. Pinto Bean and Hominy Salad

You can also have hominy fresh, like in this stupidly easy Texan-style salad. It’s loaded up with garden-fresh veggies, pinto beans, and that awesome chewy hominy.

That combo of sweet hominy and leafy cilantro? I’m just saying, this is going to be your new obsession for Taco Tuesday.

And if you use a rice cooker or Instant Pot, it comes out perfect. Every. Single. Time.

30. Hominy Quesadillas

I am just a sucker for a good quesadilla. It’s my absolute fave late-night snack, especially when it’s made like this.

This quesadilla is so rich with hominy and Mexican-style Rotel, and it is just oozing with Velveeta cheese!

That last part makes it extra creamy and indulgent. But for real, you can swap that for any melty cheese you love.
